Artist Simeen Anjum by Ame Morrison

Writers Room is honored to host artist Simeen Anjum and the Public Agency of Travel Planning for the Overwhelmed for a three day residency. The project plays with the complexities of visa navigation, borders, and immigration systems through Anjum’s own interpretation of global travel. At its core is Permission to Leave—a fictional exit visa that requires individuals to apply for permission to leave the country. By mimicking real-world bureaucracy, the project invites reflection on the often absurd and unequal structures governing global mobility.

Please visit the Public Agency of Travel Planning for the Overwhelmed during its open office hours at Writers Room, July 22nd - 24th, 6:00pm - 7:30pm, for 1-1 consultations, group workshops reflecting on belonging and our place in the world, and more.

On Thursday, July 24th, Anjum will host a workshop and open discussion to provide Travel Advice for Overwhelmed Travelers. International students are especially encouraged to attend to find community and a platform to discuss the challenges of the current Administration.
