JOY
The Museum of Black Joy, Writers Room, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art invite people of all ages to a series of interactive workshops rooted in intergenerational connections. Participants are invited to explore the PMA's permanent collection through collage, poetry, journaling, and zine-making and to consider culturally specific themes of beauty, representation, self-expression, and mindfulness.

An interactive collage and haiku workshop. Participants will speak joy to power by creatively responding to our times by writing and decorating small but mighty poems. We will look at the work of June Jordan and Robert Hayden for inspiration.

Andrea “Philly” Walls is a multidisciplinary artist and founder/creative director of the Museum of Black Joy. With Seeding Joy, she brings her innovative pedagogy to life, using the PMA’s collection and other resources to build intergenerational community through art-making that highlights Black joy and the contributions of Black culture to everyone.
