Face Jug, C. 1860-1870. This face jug, used for water storage, exhibits strong African design precedence, and was probably produced by an enslaved potter in the rural South.
Seeding Joy: We Are Vessels
An inter generational workshop that invites participants to reflect on memory, identity, and the unclaimed stories carried within us, inspired by historic face vessels made by unnamed Black makers. Through poetry and hands on creation using accessible/recycled materials, we will craft our own symbolic vessels- honoring what we hold, what we inherit and what we choose to name.
RSVP is required for free museum admission and parking, please register here.
