Second Tuesday

  • Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships 3509 Spring Garden Street Philadelphia, PA, 19104 United States (map)

Poet, artist, and audio storyteller, Sojourner Ahebee writes about insecurity of historical archives & insecurity as a feeling that connects us to our most powerful desires. The March workshop interrogates how encounters with the legal system often reduce homes to their monetary value. But our homes hold our stories and our memories. For many, our homes are where we first came to be.

In collaboration with Drexel University’s Stern Community Lawyering Clinic (CLC), Sojourner will invite participants to reflect on the emotional and historical significance of their homes. Participants will generate original poems bearing witness to a home of their choice. CLC staff and students will assist participants in navigating public records about the places they live and answer questions, and schedule follow up consultations with any who are interested!

Free and open to all, with community dinner immediately following.
